The Backpack Ensemble formed in 2017, 6 graduates aiming to make work that is generous, joyful and handmade. The company took part in mentorship by Third Angel, become a New Diorama Theatre Emerging Company in 2018/19 and have taken work up and down the length and breadth of the United Kingdom.

The companies debut show, The Search for a Black-browed Albatross won three awards at the National Student Drama Festival including The Sunday Times Playwriting Award. It then went to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe where it picked up a string of four and five star reviews, was featured on the BBC and was shortlisted for the Les Enfants Terribles Award.

I was the Producer of The Backpack Ensemble since the company formed. As the Producer of Backpack, a key part of my role was ensuring the companies work had a platform to flourish. This involved networking, tour booking, seeking funds from various sources and forming partnerships with organisations and funders.
